Background and Introduction of Kingfisher Factory Inspection

Kingfisher is a multinational retail company headquartered in the UK, with multiple brands including B&Q, Castorama, Brico D é p ô, and more. Cuifeng Group is one of the Fortune Global 500 companies and ranks third in the global home decoration retail industry. It has over 600 stores in the Asian and European markets. B&T Home, a subsidiary of the Group, currently has 58 chain stores in 24 cities in China.

Kingfisher factory audit is a type of factory audit, also known as third-party audit or third-party certification. This type of audit is usually conducted by independent third-party organizations, who conduct detailed inspections and evaluations of various aspects of the factory to ensure that it meets specific standards or requirements. The results of Kingfisher's factory inspection may affect the factory's orders and cooperation relationships. If the factory passes the audit, it means that its management system meets the standard requirements of Cuifeng, which may increase the possibility of the factory obtaining more orders and cooperation opportunities. If the factory fails the audit, improvement measures may need to be taken to meet the requirements, or it may be excluded from the potential scope of cooperation.

Kingfisher's factory inspection requirements are as follows:

1. The supplier must be a legally registered and compliant enterprise, with relevant business licenses and qualification certificates.

2. The factory must comply with the laws and regulations of the country and region where it is located, including labor laws, environmental laws, commercial laws, etc.

3. The factory needs to have a certain quality management system to ensure that the products produced meet KingFisher's quality standards and can provide relevant quality documents and records.

4. Factories must fulfill their social responsibilities, including respect for employee rights, fair employment, labor health and safety, and comply with international labor standards and ethical guidelines.

5. The factory needs to pay attention to environmental protection, ensure effective control and treatment of environmental pollution during the production process, and comply with relevant environmental regulations.

Kingfisher factory inspection scope:

The Kingfisher factory inspection of Cuifeng includes two parts: social responsibility factory inspection and quality factory inspection. The quality factory inspection is carried out in accordance with the quality standards of Kinghsher, and the social responsibility factory inspection has clearly required the factory to implement the requirements of SMETA factory inspection and Sedexd trade audit

Cuifeng Kingfisher's requirements for SMETA factory inspection:

Although SMETA (Sedex Ethical Trade Audit) can be used as a substitute for the factory inspection of Cuifeng Kingfisher, the company still has requirements for SMETA (Sedex German Trade Market). The general requirements are as follows:

(1) SMETA (Sedex Trading Market) requires:

Cuifeng Kingfisher only accepts reports from some SMETA inspection agencies, such as Intertek SGS, BV, UL and other municipal nuclear companies' SMETA/Index reports. Therefore, if the factory wants to conduct SMETA/Index audits for Cuifeng Kingfisher, it must ensure that the audit agency is designated or recognized by Cuifeng Kingfisher.

(2) Requirements for SMETAN factory (Sedex Trade Audit) form:

It is recommended to conduct SMETA (Sedexd Ethical Trade Audit) factory audits without any prior notice, which will increase the difficulty of passing the audit. However, only in this way can we fully meet the requirements of Kingfisher, otherwise it may not be accepted or recognized by Kingfisher.

(3) Requirements for non conformities in SMETA factory audit (Sedex ethical trade market):

The SMETA (Sedex Ethical Trade Audit) audit report must not contain serious non conformities, such as fire safety issues, inconsistencies caused by wage and hour fraud, and so on. It is recommended that the SMETA factory inspection report only includes minor non conformities, which is safe and completely acceptable to Kingfisher without any risks.

During the self-assessment before Kingfisher's factory inspection, suppliers can take measures to ensure that their performance during the inspection meets Kingfisher's social responsibility and sustainability standards. Here are some suggestions and precautions:

1. Familiar with Kingfisher's standards and requirements:

-Carefully study Kingfisher's social responsibility and sustainability standards to understand their specific requirements for suppliers.

2. Document preparation:

-Prepare relevant documents, including but not limited to enterprise registration certificates, factory qualifications, employee manuals, environmental permits, etc.

3. Review of labor rights:

-Ensure that the factory's wage system is reasonable and in compliance with regulations and International Labour Organization (ILO) standards.

-Ensure that working conditions meet safety and hygiene standards.

-Ensure the prohibition of forced labor and the employment of underage workers.

4. Review environmental management:

-Evaluate the environmental management practices of the factory, including waste management, energy use, pollution control, etc.

-Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.

5. Business ethics and compliance:

-Comply with business ethics standards, including requirements for compliance, transparency, and compliance.

-Ensure that the factory complies with relevant regulations and standards, including product safety, industrial safety, and other aspects of compliance.

6. Social responsibility practice:

-Pay attention to the factory's practice in social responsibility, including employee training and benefits, community support, etc.

7. Employee interviews and questionnaires:

-Conduct internal employee interviews and questionnaire surveys to understand employees' views on working conditions and company practices.

8. Improvement Plan:

-If any problems are identified, develop an improvement plan to ensure effective implementation of the improvements.

9. Advance communication:

-If you have any questions or need further explanation, please communicate with Kingfisher's procurement department or factory inspection agency in advance.

10. Understand the factory inspection process:

-Understand the general process of Kingfisher factory inspection so that suppliers can better prepare and cooperate with the audit.

Self evaluation is a crucial step for suppliers to prepare for factory inspections, which helps demonstrate compliance with social responsibility and sustainability standards during actual audits. It is recommended that suppliers continuously improve their social responsibility practices based on self-evaluation.
