Factory audit

NBCU stands for NBC Universal - the Universal Television and Film Company. NBCU is committed to fulfilling the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility as well as ethical conduct, and it hopes that all NBCU product manufacturers will adhere to the same commitment. 

NBCU product manufacturers need to meet the following standards: 

NBCUniversal product manufacturers are prohibited from using child labor. Facilities that employ workers under the age of 16 are regarded as violating the Code of Conduct and are subject to immediate contract termination. 

2. Harassment: Every employee must be treated with respect, maintaining their dignity, and shall not be subjected to violence, punishment or abuse. 

3. Non-discrimination: Manufacturers must adopt fair practices in recruitment and other employment-related activities, including but not limited to employment conditions, salary, benefits, and promotions. It is prohibited to terminate employees or engage in other employment-related actions based on factors such as race, religion, age, nationality, social or ethnic origin, gender, political views, or disability status. 

4. Freedom of association: Manufacturers respect the rights of employees to form associations, organize and engage in collective bargaining, rather than punishing the employees. 

5. Health and Safety: The manufacturer provides its employees with a workplace that complies with all applicable laws and regulations and is safe and healthy. 

6. Environmental Protection: The manufacturer will comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, including local and national standards, as well as all laws related to waste disposal, air pollution emissions, discharges, toxic substances, and hazardous waste treatment. 

7. Anti-corruption: Manufacturers are prohibited from engaging in corrupt practices, extortion, embezzlement of public funds, or bribery. 

NBCUniversal requires the factory to complete the rectification of red flag issues within 90 days after receiving the review report, and to complete the rectification of yellow flag issues within 365 days. The factory is required to prepare a corrective action plan (CAP), specifying the completion date for each issue. 

Summary meeting of on-site audit discussion list: 

Explain the main non-conformities to the factory representatives 

Clearly explain where the non-compliance issues lie. 

Agree on the non-compliance items that violate regulations 

- Warning of non-compliance items that the factory must not tolerate 

2. Explain the specific requirements for lowering the flag (from the red flag to the yellow flag) 

3. Collect the application documents that have been submitted to the government. 

4. It is suggested that the factory representatives actively cooperate in the rectification process. 

5. If necessary, the supervisor of the reviewers can join the meeting by phone for discussion. 

For the review results, they are classified both by score and issue type. The score is determined based on 85 points to determine the time interval for the next review, usually within 12 to 24 months. The most important aspect is the type of issues, which are mainly divided into black flags/ red flags and yellow flags. For factories that need to obtain authorization for production, all red flag items must be improved.
