Target factory inspection

Target, founded in Minnesota in 1962, is the second largest traditional retailer in the United States after Wal Mart, and one of the world's top 500. Target selects its business partners based on the Supplier Code of Conduct (SOVE) and requires them to comply with these standards.

Target factory inspections generally focus on quality, counter-terrorism, and human rights, depending on the specific requirements of the customer. Target's factory inspection focuses more on quality inspection, which is usually organized internally by Target.

Target factory inspection process

1、 First meeting

1) Introduce the purpose, methods, schedule, and division of work of the audit.

2) List of documents and materials that need to be reviewed

3) Explain the methods and requirements for worker interviews

4) Answer the questions raised by the factory representative

2、 Factory Visit

1) Understand the basic situation of the factory, including the factory building, personnel, dormitories, etc

2) Familiarize yourself with the route and understand the key points

3、 Inspection of documents and records

1) Various required documents and materials (such as regulations prohibiting the use of child labor, regulations prohibiting discrimination, etc.)

2) Check the records for the past 12 months, and ensure that the last 3 months meet the requirements of ICTI

4、 On site inspection

1) Including production workshops, warehouses, dormitories, canteens, restrooms, security guards, medical rooms, etc.

2) Focus on three major principles

3) Understand the production situation and record workers' activities on site

4) If necessary, photos may be taken

5、 Worker interviews

1) Random selection

2) Suspected age

3) Factory representatives are not allowed to attend and will be held in a separate room

4) It could be one-on-one, or it could be a one-on-one group

6、 Last meeting

1) Provide an interim report to decide whether to recommend or not

2) Official report issued within 10 days

3) Thank you for your cooperation with the factory

4) Answer the questions raised by the factory
