GRS certification, fully known as Global Recycled Standard, is an international, resource-oriented, and comprehensive standard for recycled material products. Originally developed by the Dutch certification body Soyuz Certification, the copyright of this certification now belongs to the Textile Exchange (TE) in the United States. GRS certification establishes a third-party certification standard for waste material recycling and reuse, aiming to promote the use of recycled materials, reduce environmental impact, and reflect corporate social responsibility.

GRS certification consulting aims to meet the requirements for verifying the recycled/recycled content of products (including finished and semi-finished products) by enterprises, while also verifying social responsibility, environmental norms, and chemical usage practices. The goal of GRS is to ensure that claims made on related products are accurate, and to ensure that products are produced in a good working environment, with minimal impact on the environment, shock, and chemical effects. This standard applies to all companies (units) that produce or sell GRS products, including processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, sales, and use of all products containing at least 20% recycled materials. Relevant material collection points and material aggregation points are not required to be GRS certified, but they must declare that they meet the specifications listed in this standard and agree to random inspections conducted by certification bodies. The scope of certified products is based on the concept of textile products, but certification is not limited to the textile industry. In this case, outsourced production units (that perform partial or full processing for final products) must comply with the specifications and requirements of the GRS standard.

The GRS certification audit primarily encompasses the following four components:

Product quality system: Ensure that products meet the corresponding quality standards and customer requirements.

Social responsibility system: Assess whether the enterprise complies with international labor standards and national/local regulations, as well as the principles of the enterprise social responsibility compliance management plan.

Environmental management system: Assess whether the enterprise possesses environmental protection awareness, and whether the sewage produced by the factory is regularly tested/inspected.

Chemical management system: Evaluate the use and management of chemicals in the manufacturing process of GRS products.

Benefits of GRS certification consulting services: 1. Possessing standard recycling material labeling 2. Strengthening the brand awareness of enterprises 3. Enhancing the market competitiveness of enterprises in terms of "green" and "environmental protection" 4. Obtaining global recognition, making it easier to enter the international arena 5. Enterprises have the opportunity to be included in the procurement lists of international buyers and world-renowned enterprises

certification process

1. Certification application

Firstly, enterprises need to submit a certification application to the GRS certification body. During the application process, enterprises need to provide basic company information and business scope, as well as the type and quantity of products that require certification. The certification body will review the application to confirm whether the enterprise meets the certification requirements.

2. On-site audit

If the application passes the review, the certification body will arrange an on-site audit. The on-site audit is mainly to understand the production process and quality control of the enterprise, ensuring that it meets the requirements of the GRS standard. During the audit, the certification body will conduct on-site inspections of the enterprise's production workshops, warehouses, laboratories, and other places, and conduct interviews with the enterprise's employees.

3. Document preparation

Before the on-site audit, the enterprise needs to prepare relevant documents and materials, including quality manuals, procedure documents, operating instructions, inspection records, etc. These documents and materials can prove that the enterprise meets the requirements of the GRS standard and are also one of the important contents of the on-site audit.

4. Rectification and verification

If the on-site audit reveals non-compliance with the GRS standard requirements, the certification body will issue a rectification opinion letter, requiring the enterprise to make rectifications. The enterprise needs to rectify according to the requirements of the rectification opinion letter and complete the rectification work within the specified time. After the rectification is completed, the certification body will verify the rectification to ensure that the enterprise has taken effective measures to solve the problems.

5. Certification decision

After on-site verification and rectification verification, the certification body will make a certification decision. If the enterprise meets the requirements of the GRS standard, the certification body will grant the enterprise a GRS certification certificate and publish the list of enterprises. If the enterprise does not meet the standard requirements, the certification body will require the enterprise to continue to rectify and conduct another audit within the specified time.
